Preston, Idaho~A Great Place to Call Home
It happens again and again, a family travels through Cache Valley and falls in love with the natural beauty and sense of small-town community they find around them. They decide to make Preston their home, and for many wonderful reasons.
There is something for everyone in Preston, a town of 5,000 nestled in the mountains in Southeastern Idaho at 4718 ft. Every season offers a variety of activities and beauty.
In the winter months the mountains offer endless trails for cross county skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, hunting and winter camping. In the summer, the many lakes and rivers offer many activities for boating, camping and fishing. Skiing is plentiful and world-class ski resorts are within 2 hours. Beaver Mountain, a ski area located in Logan Canyon is just 50 miles away. Utah Resorts like Snowbasin, Brighton, Solitude, Alta and Snowbird are within 2 hours of Preston.

One of the main events that happens in Preston is the Festival of Lights, a celebration that kicks off Thanksgiving weekend with a lighted parade, fireworks, local entertainment, a Bed Race, a visit from Santa and real Reindeer. The whole town is aglow until New Years Day.

The last weekend in July brings That Famous Preston Night Rodeo, the Nations oldest night Rodeo that draws world-class cowboys and excitement to Preston. The three-day event includes citywide sidewalk sales, a craft and antique fair, children’s festival, live entertainment, a parade, an old-fashioned Wild West Shoot-Out and pancake breakfasts.

Rodeo weekend is also the Napoleon Dynamite Festival, a cult-classic film written and directed by local legend Jared Hess. The movie was filmed in Preston and stars many locals. The festival includes a tater-tot eating contest, tether ball tournament, moon-boot dance off, and a look a like contest.
Summer months also bring local community theater plays going on all summer at the beautiful Worm Creek Opera House. The Franklin County Fair is held in August and brings many activities including live concerts, bull-riding championship, 4-H Jr. Rodeo and many booths and family activities.

Preston is a great community and a ideal place to raise a family. Call us today to help you find a perfect place to call home in our beautiful county.
